"A Place Called Home" Through February 10 Prescott College Art Gallery at Sam Hill Warehouse Featuring the collaborative sculptural works of Prescott based artists, Roger Asay and Rebecca Davis.
Asay and Davis have partnered since 1983 as collaborative artists creating sculptures and installations from natural materials. These minimalist works focus on the organic richness of the material itself.
Though both artists had been enjoying individual success, the shift toward the creation of a unique body of collaborative installation works, created by paring down found natural material to its essence, proved very powerful.
This new body of work has been shown in solo exhibitions at the Coconino Center for the Arts, University of Arizona Art Museum, the Scottsdale Art Museum, Tucson Museum of Art, the Roswell Art Museum, Tempe Art Center, Mesa Contemporary Arts and others. Group exhibitions include such venues as the Phoenix Art Museum, Austin Museum of Art, and SOFA NY and SOFA Chicago.
Their work is found in numerous private and public collections. The work of Asay and Davis carries a recognizably distinct character built from a long and rich relationship between the two artists and between the artists and the landscapes they explore. |

Cultural Connections: Cowboys and Indians in Sculpture Through Apr. 28 - Smoki Museum 147 N. Arizona Ave. Featuring the work of Bill Nebeker, CA and Doug Hyde, Nez Perce. Artists Bill Nebeker, CA and Doug Hyde, Nez Perce combine their talents in stone and bronze to bring a one of a kind exhibit to the Smoki Museum. Hyde and Nebeker, long time friends, combine their unique perspectives - Cowboy and Indian, in their sculptures.
Each artist tells of the same people in very different ways. Approximately 30 sculptures will be on display throughout the museum gallery. The show will be accompanied by lectures and demonstrations.  Naturalist Field Days - February
Feb. 4-28 - Highlands Center for Natural History
1375 S. Walker Rd. Explore nature with volunteer naturalists on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:00 am. Adults and children welcome. Please come prepared with water, comfortable walking shoes and layers.
Spark your 'natural' curiosity with our volunteer Naturalists as they take participants on a journey throughout the Central Arizona Highlands! Each FREE walk can be up to 1.5 hours long, though naturalists often adapt walks to participant's needs. Walks take place along the Highlands Center's trails located within the Prescott National Forest and participants meet
at our Benson Family Nature Store before heading out. Walks take place on February 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28. |
Knee High Naturalists and Nature Nuts Feb. 11 - Mar. 10 - Highlands Center for Natural History 1375 S. Walker Rd. These two Saturday morning nature clubs provide spring and fall opportunities for children (ages 3-5 for Knee High Naturalists and 6-10 for Nature Nuts) to discover the wonders of nature. These programs are scheduled for several Saturdays, in late winter to spring and again in the fall.
Knee High Naturalists
Parents and Grandparents accompany their little naturalist, ages 3 to 5, through this program that includes exploring the natural world through crafts, games and hands-on fun. Snack included. 9:30 to 11:00 am.
Nature Nuts
A series of Saturday programs for children ages 6 through 10. This is hands-on fun and learning at its best, with time spent hiking the trails, searching for signs of wildlife, discovering different habitats, and exploring creek side habitats. 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

From boogie woogie to the blues, Sentimental Journey celebrates the best the Great American Songbook has to offer. The Dolls will be joined on stage by special guest, Robert Shaw.
The Manhattan Dolls are a New York City based 1940s swing-style female vocal trio with the sound of The Andrews Sisters. Started by former USO Girls, The Dolls travel the world performing for military events, air shows, award ceremonies, parades, jazz clubs, concert series, you name it. They have been featured on BBC Radio London, Fox and Friends, LX 4 NY and more. Norman Laliberte Exhibit
Feb. 12 - Mar. 31 - Gallery Beyond Words
204 N. McCormick St., Prescott Internationally-acclaimed artist Norman Laliberté will visit Prescott to host the Valentine's Celebration Opening of his print show, talking about his work and process. This exhibit of lithographs, silk screens and giclées features his signature expressionistic images of ebullient flowers, playful portrayals of love and relationships and sensuous figures, a palette perfect for a holiday commemorating LOVE. The artist's presence will make this special opening a rich experience.
Laliberté first achieved international recognition as the design consultant for the Vatican Pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair, creating an installation of 88 cloth banners that commanded the glass-walled atrium with surprising splendor.
His work can be found in over 75 public and corporate collections, including the Smithsonian Institute, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, as well as appearing on TIME and LIFE magazine covers. As a teacher and prolific book author, his highly original approach to art has influenced legions of aspiring artists.
In a rare Southwest appearance, Laliberté will host a special Celebration Reception at Gallery Beyond Words, on Sunday February 12, from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. The gallery is located at 204 North McCormick Street in downtown Prescott's McCormick Arts District. Gallery hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily. |
"Dearest Alice" Feb. 17-25 - Sharlot Hall Museum 415 W. Gurley St. Sharlot Hall Museum's Blue Rose Theater presents an original historical play that tells the touching frontier story of Col. Benjamin Grierson, who commanded the Fort Whipple barracks among his many military assignments, and his loving wife Alice.
The play features Lane and Karla Burkitt as the Griersons. Tickets are $10 ($8 for Museum members) in advance and $14 at the door. Call 928-445-3122 for tickets and information; seating is limited.

"Carousel" Feb. 4-28 - Highlands Center for Natural History
1375 S. Walker Rd. The story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs. He attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child; when it goes wrong, he has a chance to make things right. A secondary plot line deals with millworker Carrie Pipperidge and her romance with ambitious fisherman Enoch Snow. The show includes the well-known songs "If I Loved You", "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone".
